This grave is in the front yard of Baptist Chapel, Hailsham. It is to the left of
Edwin Isaac & Mary BAKER grave.

TEXT:

"Sacred
to the memory of
Emma LADE,
the beloved wife of
Luke LADE.
At the town farm of Hailsham.
Who departed this life
October 5th, 1872. Aged 52 years.
Asleep in Jesus
Also of Luke LADE,
Husband of the above,
Who died December 29th, 1876,
Aged 57 years.
It shall be well with thee."

NOTES: According to the 1851 Census:
Luke LADE of Cowbeach Hill, was born in Warbleton, was 31 years old, and was a "hegler". His wife Emma was born in Wartling and was 31 years old. At that time they had one son, Tom, born in Wartling, 2 years old and one daughter, Anna, who was born in Wartling and was 6 months old.
