Group 20

Closeups of subjects in this photo are on Group20a.

Behind the third person from the left is the maker's stamp on the tent: "C.J. BAKER, Maker, 104 W. Third St., Kansas City, MO." (See closeup of stamp on tent on Group 22b.)

"C.J." was Caleb J. BAKER, Edwin Isaac's younger brother. While living in Hailsham, Caleb was listed as a "tarpaulin maker". At some unknown time he moved to Kansas City, continued the tent making business, formed a partnership with a Mr. Lockwood, and created Baker & Lockwood Tent & Awning Company.
